In this journal entry, I will be reflecting on the conversation that Alexander is participating in about race, criminal justice, and mass incarceration. I will also be discussing my own views on this topic, and how this book has affected my thinking.
The conversation that Alexander is participating in is one that is very important, but often overlooked. She discusses how the War on Drugs and mass incarceration have led to a new form of racism that disproportionately affects Black and Latino men. I think that this is a very important conversation to be having, because it is something that is often overlooked.
I agree with Alexander that the War on Drugs and mass incarceration have led to a new form of racism. I think that these two factors have had a very negative impact on Black and Latino men in particular. I also think that this is something that needs to be discussed more, in order to raise awareness and create change.
I think that the most compelling piece of evidence that Alexander provides in support of her claim is the statistics that she cites.
