Research and review at least ONE other peer-reviewed nursing journal article on the topic of spirituality and/or vulnerability.

It is fundamental that student nurses become self-aware; this self-awareness helps the student become more effective while helping others. Understandably, the process of gaining personal insight opens one up to feeling vulnerable. Understanding our own vulnerability allows nurses to appreciate the vulnerability of the patients they care for thus, are more empathetic.

This paper requires the student to explore more in-depth the important concepts of spirituality and vulnerability. One focus is to gain insight into the historical changes of spirituality in nursing. A second focus is for students to reflect on the knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed to become effective nurse who recognizes the significance of spiritual beliefs and values to promote health in potentially vulnerable individuals.
