Analyze and evaluate the methodology and findings of two attached sociological research articles as it relates to Marriage and the Affect of Financial Hardships. 800-1,000 words with three sections: A) a summary of the methodology and findings of each article B) a critical analysis of the articles’ methodology and C) a final section containing your concluding thoughts, reflections, and connections.
The Paper:
Section A) Methodology and Findings
First, in a cohesive discussion, demonstrate your understanding of the articles by addressing the following questions for each:
What is the research question?
What method is used, and is the method qualitative (Burgoyne, L) and/or quantitative (Hu, Y.)?
Who is the study about? Consider intersections of gender, race, class, age, ability, sexuality, immigration status, etc.
What are the findings?
For the quantitative article, how are cause and effect established?
Section B) Critical Analysis of Methodology
Then, apply your critical thinking skills to evaluate the research articles, by addressing the following questions:
What unstated assumptions are made by the researchers?
What questions are not answered?
How effective are the methods used in allowing the researchers to address their research questions?
Section C) Final Analysis, Reflections, & Connections
Share your final analyses and reflections on the research findings:
Do the findings of this sociological research support any prior assumptions you may have had?
How do they connect to other themes we have learned about in this class?
Do they raise any questions for you?
