At the beginning of the session everyone was very quiet nobody wanted to take the lead (the feeling was awkward waiting for somebody to start). Then one person stood up and went to the whiteboard and said she will write the topics we wanted to talk about. One of the topics that was discussed was “transitioning from being a student nurse to be a qualified nurse”. The discussion was around how some felt fear of not being ready to take on all the responsibility, some felt excited and could not wait to qualify, and some had mixed feelings of excitement and fear. The discussion had picked up and people were just joining in the conversation when they had something to say. The mood lightened up and conversation was flowing. People started to talk about their own opinions and feelings. – Learning point : I (the participant in the group clinical supervision session) have learned that it is ok to be feeling unprepared for the role, other people feel the same. It is a good opportunity to show what have you learned and show your resilience. To apply this in practice: There will be time when you care for patients and you face a situation when you not sure how to deal with but you will have other colleagues who can help you or advise you. You will gain experience and confidence therefore you will be more resilient too.
