In one typed page, your team should do three things. * State a qualitative research question about education leadership or music education, or describe the phenomenon, problem or issue you want to study for research a potential dissertation.* Discuss why this question or problem is of interest to you.* Briefly discuss the significance of this question to policy or practice.Some things to think about as you develop your question.You will have to do observations and (3) interviews in an attempt to answer this question; your plan for data collection should, of course, relate to your question. So you should be thinking now about* Who/what you will observe? (This can be a person, a classroom, a meeting, etc.)* The people you will interview? (Not names, just a description, for example, we will interview principals, music teachers, musicians, choir directors, school superintendents, administrators of public elementary/middle/high schools.)* How will these research strategies help you answer your question? (Think about the kinds of data you think you will get from the interview and observation and how this data might help you “answer” your research question.) As you consider your question and your research strategies, you should also think about* your access to potential data sources (Whose permission will you need?);* the timeframe for this project* any potential logisitical problems;* any potential ethical problems.
