Additional materials contains the novel
Choose three quotations from your novel. Each quotation should represent an important setting, including time, place and mood, that is portrayed in the novel. Then, create or find a picture or photograph which depicts each quotation you have chosen.
Remember that the pictures you choose must represent more than just physical space; they need to match the moods and, if appropriate, the times depicted in the quotations.
You may submit the quotations and pictures/photographs in Word documents or as Powerpoint slides.
The final portion of the assignment is a short piece of writing (1 – 2 paragraphs; about 150 – 200 words) in which you describe the setting of the novel and explain its importance or connection to the novel’s theme. Be sure to indicate if there is a shift in the setting (either physically or in terms of mood). Be careful not to simply write a list of locations; you should be writing literary analysis. That means you must interpret the importance of setting and, ideally, use quotations from the novel to support your interpretation. Think about how the setting influences the characters, the conflict, and a theme. Another question to ask yourself is: How does the setting reveal something about the character? How the character responds to the environment will reveal something about the character. Imagine a Chemist and a toddler walking into a chemistry lab. They will act completely differently right? So HOW they act in that lab will tell us something about who they are.
How will it be marked?
