As a group, identify one topic of interest to research. Refer to the Research Topics List in the course for ideas. You may select another area; however, if you choose a different topic, it is recommended that you complete a literature search first to ensure there is adequate, published, scholarly information available about the topic. Note that you will be using this topic throughout the entire course. Contact your instructor if you have any questions.
Using the topic you select as a group, complete the Johns Hopkins Evidence-Based Practice Model for Nursing and Healthcare Professionals, Appendix B, Question Development Tool and Appendix E, Research Appraisal Tool:
Title Page: Include a Title Page with the problem topic selected and a list of group members’ names. Keep in mind this should be the topic of the problem without stating any solutions or best practices in the title. For example, “Preventing Elopement of High-Risk Patients” is an appropriate title as it only states the topic area. “Using Video Monitoring to Prevent the Elopement of High-Risk Patients” is not appropriate as it states the best practice, therefore, limiting the research to only studies that use video monitoring.
Appendix B: Complete the Appendix BDownload Appendix B worksheet. Note all sections should be completed except for the last question, “What are measures that indicate if the EBP project is successful”. The Revised EBP question may not be needed. If that is the case, please enter “Not Applicable” on the worksheet.
Search Strategies: Conduct a preliminary search of the existing literature for a minimum of eight scholarly journal articles depicting original research published within the last five years. Create a section after the Appendix B worksheet titled Search Strategies. Describe the search strategies used to identify relevant studies from credible, scholarly sources. Include the keywords, databases, filters. Discuss the number of articles produced in your search. Summarize a few strategies the group used to further refine the results. Integrate recommendations for searching the literature from the textbook and cite the source.
Appendix E: Complete SECTION I (Quantitative) or SECTION II (Qualitative) of Appendix EDownload Appendix E for each article selected. As a group, you will have a total of eight total appraisals selecting the Qualitative or Quantitative appraisal.
References: Include a References page listing all selected articles related to your topic for appraisal.
*Note: Paper appendices are typically found after the References pages in APA papers. For this Assignment, Appendices B and E are considered the content of the paper and therefore should be placed in the body of the paper. Use the template at the top of these directions to complete the assignment.
