The Review Essay. Minimum: 750 words. The main objective is to provide an overview of the most significant points that were raised by the author. The Review Essay is to follow this standardized sequence. First, write an Introduction to the Review Essay. The goal is to identify the main thesis the author is presenting. Next, after the Introduction, is a brief summary of the contents. When summarizing the textbook, you should focus on the central claims, arguments, and general therapy positions presented. You should only discuss the information that is most significant and will help lead you into the Critical Discussion portion of the Review Essay. Next, in the Critical Discussion portion of the Review Essay, to evaluate the contribution the author has made to the specific therapy presented. Identify existing problems or controversies addressed by the author; assessing if the presentations made a valuable contribution to the therapy field; and if the author adequately and accurately presented the therapy subject. You will need evidence from the book to support your argument. Refer to the book throughout your Review Essay. Use direct quotes from the notes you made as you read the textbook. Finally, the Review Essay will need a Conclusion. In your Conclusion, you restate your thesis and summarize your critical analysis.
