Inclusive education is the idea that all children should have access to a quality education, regardless of their physical or mental disabilities. It is a movement that has been gaining traction in recent years, as more people become aware of the benefits it can bring.
In Japan, however, the reality is a bit different. Majority of the children with any physical or mental disabilities are not attending public schools as everyone else even though Japan’s law in terms of services and support for children with any disabilities is not much different compared to most developed countries.
The reason behind this is that the Japanese society is still not fully accepting of people with disabilities. This is evident in the way that most public schools are not equipped to handle children with special needs. As a result, these children are often left behind and excluded from society.
This is a problem that needs to be addressed. Inclusive education is a step in the right direction, and it is something that Japan needs to start implementing. With inclusive education, all children will have the opportunity to receive a quality education, regardless of their abilities. This will benefit not only the children, but also the society as a whole.
