*Overall topic: Theory of Motivated Information Management and Avoidance in Communication Between Parents and Teenagers
*Questions
1. How can the theory of motivation information management be used to understand adolescents’ avoidance in talks with their parents?
2. What are some of the information-seeking behaviors that are evident when teenagers and parents engage in sensitive topics?
*Theories
Theory of Motivated Information Management
Social Cognitive Theory
Problematic Integration Theory
Theory Of Uncertainty Management
*Paper Format
I could conduct a literature review of past research materials on applying the theory of motivated information management concerning the parents-teenager interactions. Based on my analysis of related past materials, I noted that the subject of parent-teenager interactions was analyzed using the theory of motivated information management. I would use a theoretical framework to ensure the correct findings in this study. The theoretical framework would encompass a survey conducted on around 100 parents to get responses about their interactions with the teenagers. Therefore, I would complete the research effectively through the previous research materials and the qualitative analysis of the parental responses.
*Rationale
Writing my research proposal on this topic would benefit me and the existing literature about the theory of Motivated Information Management. Generally, interacting with research materials that outline this topic would enable me to expound on my theory of motivated information management. Moreover, I would better understand the complex parental-adolescents interactions using the available evidence. Lastly, working on this topic would contribute to the existing literature and help reduce the current gap in this field.
