Instructions for Students
Select an issue from course readings related to rhetorical awareness. Identify specific arguments and ideas from course readings related to the issue. Then explore the issue; it is optional to collect additional information for your essay. Write a thesis-based essay that summarizes your response/your position to the course readings.
Guidelines for This Essay
Write an introduction that includes an insightful thesis statement that sums up your response to an issue from the course readings. Your thesis statement should present your own thinking about the ideas brought up in the readings.
Write a summary of the ideas from the readings you will respond to. Include relevant quotes, examples, and/or details from the course reading assignments to support your interpretation.
Go on to respond to the ideas you just summarized. Your response should include your own thinking about the ideas/issues which you can support with personal experience.
You may also use additional sources/texts you find, but they are not required for this assignment. Secondary sources should not replace assigned course readings.
Write at least three typed, double-spaced pages.
