Context
Veronica holds a high moral ground and avoids confrontation as shes a representative of society, but turns a blind eye when the violence is away from her domestic life. For example, she dismisses Alan’s argument that there is a similarity between child soldiers killing each other and children hurting each other in the playground during recess. Conversely, Sarah does her job as a photographer to showcase the brutality of war which wreaks havoc on humanity and the countys civilians. Sarah acknowledges the importance of still working despite the deadly consequences of staying in a warzone to spread the awareness of human carnage overseas. Similar to Russia’s Invasion in Ukraine, there are journalists and photographers like Sarah in the crossfire of the war covering unprecedented times to the public. Theyre putting their lives on the line to expose the brutal truth of violence against an independent country in Ukraine at the hands of the Russian armed forces. The situation is ultimately deadly but rewarding as the reporters are capturing the glimpse of the war for the public to gain access and propel the viewers to initiate a plan to provide humanitarian relief to those affected. But, the horrific pictures of the war cant move everybody to perk up like Veronica. She feels devastated by it but ignores it as it doesnt affect her personally. However, if her child was physically attacked by another, she would stand up fearlessly to protect her son from harm in her personal sphere.
