(I was planning on making my thesis about how the “American Dream” trope/theme appears throughout the musical. Additionally the character Hamilton represents the “American Dream” through his self made success story. I don’t mind if my thesis is changed though.)
Instructions: Write an interpretive argument in which you choose one theme from Hamilton and identify the statement that the musical makes about that theme (in other words, what the musical suggests to be true about that theme). As you develop the essay, analyze the key technical devices and narrative elements that develop that thematic statement.
Notes:
-in your thesis statement, be sure to include an interpretive literary argument that includes a central claim, along with key sub-points and elements of complexity.
-When you develop your argument and thesis statement, remember that you are interpreting a work of art, not making a historical judgment about history.
-Length: At least 1300 words (about four pages, double spaced) -Manuscript Format: Use MLA format and underline the thesis statement.
-Citations: No citations needed.
