Individual case study report (2,500 words) Create a report of the underlying ESG issue that leads to an engagement plan for an active owner more precisely an institutional investor looking to generate a positive impact.
Note: Your work needs to include the following two parts: -(1) 2,500 word case study report (2) An excel sheet that shows your research process, i.e. sources that you find and work through, no matter if you do or do not use them in the end. This will be more extensive than your bibliography and needs to reflect your whole research process.
Specification Guidance 1. Familiarise yourself with the materials around responsible investors, public reporting, SDG materiality, private reporting, and Stewardship on google scholar. The focus should be on the critical analysis cumulating in an engagement plan, i.e. make sure you understand why the investor has identified the issue in question and has decided to engage on it. You should look for material published by the different stakeholders involved in the underlying conflict of fast fashion.
2. Identify ESG issues linked to the company that you have chosen. This includes identifying the companys business model. You should look for academic, industry or NGO sources that discuss fast fashion and the interests and motivations behind it in general and the underlying conflicts in particular.
3. Now that you have analysed the ESG issue in detail, take the perspective of an investor in the chosen company. Identify two key issues that became apparent in your analyses, which as an investor you would like to see addressed. You should refer to the literature on responsible investment in general and shareholder engagement / active ownership in particular.
4. The final aspect of the assignment is to create an engagement plan (investor perspective) / action plan (company perspective). The focus here should be to pick one or two aspects of the overall conflict based on the underlying ESG issue. The outcome should be actionable suggestions that are supported by academic and industry research.
