You will read and analyze an autobiography and apply case management techniques and principles to the subject’s life.
By now, you should have read your autobiography and gotten to know your client in the story fairly well. The first thing to do is determine at what point you have the most information on your client in that you can discuss, present and develop a case file on them. For those stories that reflect many years, you may have to pick a particular age/stage to make them your client. This requires a little imagination as you may not have all the information, but it is expected that you apply all that is available to you in your autobiography.
You will produce a 3-page paper on your chosen autobiography in APA format. This paper should include basic client information, techniques, and principles that would be most applicable to this client.
Examples: Ethics, Cultural Competence, Boundaries, Open vs. Closed Questions, Bringing up Difficult Issues, Clarifying Who Owns the Problem etc.
Based on age, gender, ethnicity, religion, current issues, or any other information that is provided to you within your autobiography will be used to determine which topics are most prevalent as you are their case manager. You should choose one specific time period to determine this approach.
For example, if you read an autobiography on a person dealing with addiction from teenage years to adulthood (suppose there was a lot of information about the teenage years within) so you would choose 17 years of age for as your client.
You may start your assignment by introducing your client by age, gender, any cultural relevance, some information on what is currently going on with him or her, etc. (This should be 1-3 paragraphs). Then I would create headings for specific topics that are relevant to my client such as ethics for minors, listening and responding, disarming anger, providing genuineness. I would explain why this topic is important to your client and how I would utilize these concepts with your client for the interview.
Paper Requirements: You should include a Title Page, 3 double spaced pages typed in Times New Roman Font (12), and a reference page.
