This assignment has two parts: 1. Assets Survey Goal: Create a short survey of questions for your students and parents/families to get to know their preferences, music likes, what they are watching, playing and enjoying, to learn more about their lived experiences, cultures and backgrounds, and ideas for your class. Step One: Create survey questions that activate meaningful conversations with students and/or their families, from an assets and positive perspective (Due this week). 2. Lesson Plan Draft Goal: To create a lesson plan through the Culturally Responsive/Relevant lens. Instructions: After reading about Culturally Responsive and Relevant Pedagogy this week, please create a lesson plan that you think embodies some of the tenants you read about. You are also welcomed to use a lesson plan you have already taught, if you felt that it had any of the approaches you read about. Over the next few weeks, we are going to be doing two processes with this lesson plan. (1) We will create a CRP lesson plan template (2) We will work to gradually improve the initial lesson plan through the lens of CRP and Equity-centered Pedagogy.
