BackgroundMargie had been taken to the Accident and Emergency (A&E) ten days before after a similar fall and was diagnosed with an ankle sprain. When admitted, Margie was on bed restriction because of the sprain. In one of the patient care routines, discoloured red patches were noticed on her hip and shoulders. Margie complained of pain and itchiness around her hips. Three days after her admission to the ward, an open wound was noticed on Margie’s back and near her hip in the area where there had been discolouration. Margie has recently been using a urinary catheter due to difficulty urinating. Margie was upset with the diagnosis and worried as her husband died with stage IV pressure ulcers and she had seen him suffer from the pain of the ulcers. That was adding to her fear of never walking again because of the sprain. Her situation was made worse by that she did not have any immediate family in the UK because all her sons live abroad and used Skype to communicate with her once a week.In other to meet the learning outcomesIdentify 2 or 3 aspects of PCC and focussed the assignment around them.
