Demonstrate a thoughtful understanding of the subject matter with a clear and convincing argument.

Using academic/grey literature as well as data (e.g., from Statistics Canada, Public Health, City of Toronto, etc.) students are asked to discuss the connection between COVID-19 and environmental racism. Students will examine the concept of environmental racism and how COVID-19 exposure, contraction and mortality can be viewed through the lens of environmental racism. Students should include a closing reflection on how they as students and citizens can play a part in achieving environmental justice in their own communities and neighbourhoods.

Critical Reflection Essays will be marked on the following:

-Demonstrates a thoughtful understanding of the subject matter with a clear and convincing argument
-A variety of sources are used to support, extend and inform ideas
-Ideas are organized and presented in a coherent, logical progression, with a clear introduction and strong conclusion
-Writing is free of grammatical and spelling errors and conforms to the requirements outlined below
-Writing demonstrates complexity, perceptiveness, originality and depth of thoughts
-Technical considerations for the critical reflection essay
