DISCUSS (a) a ‘traditional’ career and a ‘modern’ career and (b) how the COVID-19 pandemic may have triggered a ‘career shock’ for some individuals in either type of career. Reference should be made to both academic literature and own experience (i.e. impact on career or career plans). In sessions we cover some traditional career theories (i.e., Holland, Schein, Super) and some modern career theories (i.e., boundaryless and protean). This will set the background to then explain, in the second part of the essay, how each of these may have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic (for example, were people who had a ‘traditional’ career impacted more, or less, by COVID-19 than people who had a boundaryless career? If so, how? And why?)
