Discuss Challenges of management and administration in a Changing Health Care System

Directions: In this assignment, you will think as a health care manager/administrator within the changing environment of healthcare. The paper will focus on the role of the manager/administrator in managing and adapting to changes in the healthcare system.

This assignment requires you to do some research. You need to use at least 4-6 scholarly references (no Wikipedia, blogs, LinkedIn postings, news articles, magazine articles, etc.). References should be current (within the last 2-3 years).

This assignment also requires that you interview a leader within a healthcare organization. This leader may be your own direct supervisor or manager or someone you know in a leadership position. Plan ahead for this so you can find someone to interview before the paper is due.

Write a paper identifying and discussing the following:

Identify at least 3 important challenges facing the health care system today and going forward into the future (this should come from at least one scholarly reference from within the past 3 years).
Discuss how each of these challenges impact the role of the manager/administrator and leadership within a healthcare organization.
Discuss at least 3 important skills that future managers/administrators need to have to be able to competently manage the challenges you identified. Describe the skill and then explain how the skill is used in healthcare management/administration. This should be based on your research.
If you could make one change yourself in our healthcare system, what would it be and why?
Summarize your interview with the leader. You will interview a person who has a leadership role in an organization. Set this up before the end of the semester so you have time to complete the interview before the due date of the paper. If you have a question about whether the person you want to interview is considered to be in a leadership position, you can send the person and his/her title to the instructor for approval. You are also encouraged to send the questions you want to ask the leader to the instructor for approval.
You will ask the person you interview at least 5 questions about the role s/he plays within his/her organization that characterizes him/her as a leader.
Include the questions you asked and the responses you received.
