You will have 4 questions to answer in short essay format.
Each will require you to properly cite at least one example from our textbook readings, but you are welcome to use other examples from properly cited academic sources. Academically appropriate sources must be used to receive credit for your answer. (Avoid encyclopedias, Wikipedia, etc). 1) Discuss the competing early philosophies of China, both before and after Confucianism. What were the differences? Who were the leading proponents of each?
2) The Zhou rulers of China adopted the political idea of rule by way of a mandate from heaven. Discuss this concept and its implementation. Did it succeed?
