Your summaries should include the following: You need to make a clear statement of what exactly the argument is: i.e. not just that the author thinks women did or did not have a Renaissance, but why she thinks that, what her evidence is, what sources she uses, what kinds of women she includes in her argument (i.e. does she try to be inclusive or just address particular women) You need to provide dates for the Renaissance and for any specific women, men, events etc. that you mention. Brief desсrіption of the Renaissance with dates and a summary of its impact on society and how men took advantage of it 2.Summary of argument of Margaret King in her piece “Virgo et Virago: Woman and High Culture” in support of the proposition that women did have a Renaissance. 3. Summary of argument of Joan Kelly Gadol in her piece “Did Women have a Renaissance” in support of the proposition that women did have a Renaissance. 4. Brief paragraph on which argument you found most persuasive and why (this needs to address both arguments: i.e. why you found one more persuasive and why the other was not so persuasive relying on the evidence provided by the historians). REMEMBER – You are not answering the question “Did Woman have a Renaissance?” (there is no definitive answer to this question, hence the debate) – You are simply summarizing the two arguments in accordance with the instructions above and then saying why you found one more persuasive than the other
