In every project we have this semester, we will be using text to support our paragraphs. The quotes we choose to use from our texts will serve as the Information of our PIE paragraphs, meaning that we will make a Point (present our opinion or claim for that paragraph) and then we will use a quote as the Information to prove our Point.
When we incorporate quotes into our writing, we want to make sure that they flow smoothly into the text but also that they are introduced properly so that the reader knows exactly where our information is coming from. to make sure we do that, there are some very specific steps I want us to follow when we first introduce a quote.

Type the Point above on a separate document (Word)
Follow the Point with the quote you selected from the text. Make sure to incorporate the quote following each step.
Include the author name
Include the author’s credibility
Include the article name
Include an action verb to lean into the quote.
Remember that we only incorporate the quote this way the first time you use that text. If you use the same text multiple times, the second, third, forth….time, all you need to say is the author’s last name and an action verb.
