Immigration in American history.

Please take a look at the following websites with political cartoons lampooning popular perceptions of U.S. immigration from the Gilded Age, or the late 1800s (plain text version) and from the 2010s (plain text version). During these two weeks we are comparing attitudes about the debates to restrict or regulate immigration from eras roughly 100 years apart to think about whether we as a nation have changed our popular understanding of why immigration policy should be more restricted or more open. After you review these
political cartoons, please post your reactions to the cartoons, and whether you think these images that are crafted to apply exaggeration, irony, and humor to important issues of the day add value [or not] to the more serious political debatES.
