From the class notes, you will have understood that the integration of business and society into a strategic set is a necessary step for the enhancement of the conversation on sustainability. Your assignment will ask you to develop a strategic high level plan, on how your own organization (or an organization of your choice) can integrate sustainable practices within their strategic value proposition and value chain. Your work has to be professionally conducted and articulate.Recommended Reading Material: Bower, J. L., Leonard, H. B., & Paine, L. S. (2011). Capitalism at risk: rethinking the role of business. The strategic high level plan that I would develop in order to integrate sustainable practices into my organization’s value proposition and value chain would have several key components.
First, I would assess the organization’s current position with regards to sustainability, both in terms of its internal operations and its external reputation. This would involve conducting a thorough review of the organization’s policies and procedures, as well as its public statements and actions. This would help to identify any areas where the organization could make improvements in order to be more sustainable.
Second, I would develop a sustainable development strategy for the organization. This strategy would set out the organization’s goals for becoming more sustainable, and would identify the specific actions that need to be taken in order to achieve these goals. The strategy would also need to take into account the organization’s current position and the resources that are available to it.
Third, I would create a plan for implementing the sustainable development strategy. This plan would detail how the organization would go about implementing the various actions that are required in order to achieve its goals. The plan would need to be realistic and achievable, and would need to take into account the resources that are available to the organization.
Fourth, I would monitor and evaluate the progress of the organization’s sustainable development strategy. This would involve setting up systems to track the organization’s progress and to identify any areas where improvements could be made.
Finally, I would communicate the organization’s sustainable development strategy to all relevant stakeholders. This would ensure that everyone is aware of the organization’s commitment to sustainability, and would help to build support for the implementation of the strategy.
