Diversity Health (DH) HEALTHY PEOPLE (HP) 2030 Mid-Term Exam (MTE) & Preparation (MTP) Audio-PowerPoint (PPT) Instructions Healthy People provides science-based, 10-year national objectives for improving the health of all Americans. For 4 decades, HP has established benchmarks and monitored progress over time in order to: Encourage collaborations across communities and sectors. Empower individuals toward making informed health decisions. Measure the impact of prevention activities. ►Your MTE will allow you to create a realistic HP 2030 public health intervention (phi) by: o Identifying a disparity that exist in access to health care both nationally and globally and o Reviewing the impact of key issues and trends in selected national and global healthcare topics as they relate to the role of the professional nurse. To help you earn the best MTE grade that you can: a. READ completely FIRST & then PRINT these instructions b. READ & FOLLOW the MTE Rubric c. Reminder: All References must be peer reviewed d. Use the 2 MTP assignments to help you stay aware of the due date & consult with the Writing Center (WC) &/or Brainfuse for help with academic writing & APA format. e. READ & FOLLOW the MTP instructions. f. AFTER reading the instructions below, ALWAYS ask Professor Peters questions by emailing or scheduling phone or Zoom time, or an office meeting whenever you need any additional help. Page 2 of 5 MTE Instructions: A. Create a voice-over or audio PPT that must include: 1. A Total number of slides = 8 – 14 including Title & Reference pages; 2. Only the Title & Reference page(s) are in APA format; 3. A minimum of 6 references; 4. When using images, make sure image captions are in APA format; 5. Use bullets on your slides to express your PPT content and guide your narration; 6. Print & Use the Tips for Effective PPT Presentations document to help you create your PPT; 7. Create an Audio PowerPoint where you narrate the presentation over 10-15 minutes (in PowerPoint, select the “Slide Show” tab, then choose “Record Slide Show” 8. Make sure your content follows these instructions & the MTE Rubric; Use Topic Information, Mobilize, Assess, & Plan as PPT slide content headings; 9. After reading all of these instructions, ask Professor Peters specific questions, whenever you feel it necessary. Specific PPT Instructions: (See also: Tips for Effective PowerPoint Presentations within Module 2) 1. BEFORE starting this MTE, each student MUST submit your Topic choice by the due date to this assignment portal. Professor Peters must approve the topic area before you begin. 2. Each topic/subtopic area can Only be used Once. Submit your Topic choice as soon as possible to the assignment portal to increase your opportunity to use your first choice for this project. 3. Use the HP 2030 Website to do the following: a. After clicking on & opening the above link, move your mouse over the drop-down arrow for ‘Tools for Action’ in the upper center/right area of the webpage. Page 3 of 5 b. Click on ‘Browse Evidence-Based Resources’ in the drop-down box. c. Scroll down the “Browse Evidence-Based Resources” page and select a Healthy People 2030 topic area from one of the categories: Health Conditions; Health Behaviors; Populations; Settings and Systems; Social Determinants of Health. d. Click on your chosen topic (e.g., Chronic Kidney Disease) and review the new page tht opens; e. Click on “Overview and Objectives” on the left side of this new web page; f. Review the list of Objectives in order to select a subtopic on which to focus your presentation. g. You can click on the specific Objective for more detail. h. You will need Professor Peters to approve your topic and subtopic area. i. Return to the ‘Tools for Action’ area at the center/right of the webpage and hover over the drop-down arrow to select and review the “Use Healthy People 2030 in Your Work” page to assist in conceptualizing and creating your public health intervention; Because the HP2030 site does not contain the key areas and questions previously used to focus the development of your intervention, you will access these areas at the following locations online using the HP2020 site: Review the program planning steps by clicking on the separate links provided below. The steps are as follows: Mobilize (M) answer at least 3 of 4 questions (read the entire page and apply instructions) Assess (A) answer all 3 questions(read the entire page and apply instructions) Plan (P) answer all 3 questions (read the entire page and apply instructions) Implement (I) Track (T) A. Follow each of the MAP questions at the top of each of their pages to help guide and create your MAP public health intervention or phi. B. Apply the questions to your phi. Consider using the MAP Questions in order to properly address this section in your presentation. (Doing this will allow you to complete your MTE correctly.) C. Read the entire page. Each page has detailed desсrіptions, examples, and resources to help and guide you. Use them to create a realistic phi based on your chosen topic. Page 4 of 5 D. Reading the ‘MAP’ information below the questions. This will help you understand how this framework is used. 4. Your MTE document will consist of you creating your own realistic MAP (M= Mobilize, A= Assess, P= Plan) path for success by planning a phi PPT. Points to consider and address: A. What strategies or projects are other teams focusing on? B. What is your team going to focus on? C. Your plan will consist of what steps? D. Who will perform the steps? E. Who will you need to contact to schedule your strategy or receive permission? F. How long will your intervention last? G. Who will clean up, set up, collect data, get permission slips, etc.? The duties of your project are for your team to complete, not someone else. 5. You are not required to include the IT portion of the MAP-IT framework in your phi, however reading the information will help you understand the entire framework. 6. The phi that you create must be REALISTIC. So, create your MAP as if you were going to present it to your co-workers &/or people that could benefit from the information. (see above points to consider and address) 7. Remember, the MAP framework is a real tool that helps our communities & nation become healthier. MTP Instructions: a. The MTP 1 review assignment is required while the MTP 2 steps are voluntary & can: o Provide support, direction, and keep you focused on a timely schedule for completion of your MTE o Help you stay aware of the due date & remind you about the Writing Center & Brainfuse resources that will help you learn & follow the APA requirements in the MTE instructions. b. If consulting with & submitting the MTP review assignments to the Writing Center or Brainfuse, create & keep a MTP Journal that includes the following: Page 5 of 5 o Name of WC or Brainfuse staff that reviewed your submission o Time & Date of the review c. Consistently review the MTE Rubric to stay aware of how your grade will be earned. MTP 1: 1. Review the HP 2030 Website 2. Correctly choose your MT Topic according to the MTE Instructions 3. Submit your Topic choice by the due date to this assignment portal. 4. Complete at least your Title page & the M = Mobilize portion of your MT HP 2030.
