CAPSTONE PAPER DETAILS.
This Capstone project requires that you write an APA style paper about a specific criminal justice topic accompanied with a Power Point Presentation. This paper and PPT should be completed and due in its entirety on November 20, by 11:59pm Eastern Standard
Time.
Papers that receive a final grade below 70% will have an opportunity for a revise and resubmit before the end of the course.
Below are helpful hints and specific instructions regarding the paper. You will receive written comments from me on your topic (if applicable). These comments should be used to make edits/changes to your paper and should be incorporated into the final paper submission. Should you have questions, please feel free to ask. The paper requires you to have a problem statement/research question(s). This is a research paper that requires research.
Capstone paper topic: Mental Health and Crime drugs addicts
The first step in the capstone paper writing process is to pick your topic. I must approve your topic before you may continue. The topic paper must include the topic, 500 words about the topic and why you chose the topic, and a problem statement/ research questions that your paper is going to answer.
Capstone Paper, Reference Page Due by October 23, 2022 by 11:59pm EST. Submit Through D2L
Reference page should have a minimum of 9 Scholarly articles.
Introduction: Due by October 30, 2022 by 11:59 pm EST. This component of your paper will introduce the reader to your topic, why it is relevant, your research question(s) and what you anticipate to your research to uncover (2-3 pages). You should have scholarly sources cited in here and throughout your paper to substantiate what you are saying.
Literature Review: This part of your paper talks about the prior research that supports your problem statement/research question. It also educates the reader about the topic. Overall, these sections of your paper set up the problem and provide an overview of the literature available on your topic. You must be able to show your reader…in this case ME, that you understand the issues/problems associated with your topic and that you have conducted an extensive review of the literature to evaluate what has been written about this topic (or related topic) by other people and what they think.
Due November 6, by 11:59pm EST (Submit through D2L) (3-5 pages)
Each paper will vary in how these two sections are organized depending on your topic. Below should give you an idea of what I am looking for
Discussion/ Conclusion (2-3 pages): This section of your paper needs to tie up everything in a neat package… encapsulates what you have learned about your topic, the answer to your problem statement/research question, and your thoughts about your topic for the future. Here is your opportunity to elaborate on what you would change from a programmatic standpoint (need more inpatient beds with aftercare component, for example).
This section of your paper should bring together what you have learned about your topic, and how/where your topic fits in to the realm of criminal justice as a whole. What place in the world of criminal justice does your topic hold and how you would improve it. Furthermore, you need to make ONE criminal justice policy recommendation related to your topic (Approximately 2-3 pages).
Power Point Presentation: Due November 13, by 11:59pm EST: This will be submitted in the discussion forum for fellow students to critique and comment on.
Capstone Paper, final: due November 20, by 11:59pm (Submit through D2L)
Your final paper submission will be graded on your ability to revise (if required) based on comments you received from me and your ability to put all sections of the paper together into a cohesive whole. This is a formal paper and therefore should be written as such. Be sure to check grammar and word usage and use proper conventions when writing. Overall, this paper should be a reflection of not only what you have learned about your topic but how your topic fits in to the larger framework of criminal justice. This is your opportunity to show what you have learned about a particular topic of interest as well as the criminal justice
