White-Collar Crime Case Study Paper
You will write a paper on a topic approved by me, with a minimum of 8 pages. You will pick a prominent example of WCC crime to conduct a case study on. The paper will be written in APA format. You will be provided with two paper formats to choose from. At
least 5 peer-reviewed articles will be used to develop the literature review.
2. Abstract
3. Introduction – For this you will introduce the white collar crime case, try to do this in a way that catches the reader’s attention. Usually there is where you introduce the problem. For this section you will likely want to focus on the harm done by the white collar crime you are studying. You would also possibly introduce the victim and perpetrators of the crime.
4. Body – For this section you will give the information about the crime.
A. How did it happen, what was the legal response, exc. This is the easiest part you need to find a way to tell what happened.
B. However, you will also need to do some critical thinking and apply what you know from this class and others. To do this you will need to discuss what factors allowed for the crime to happen. (In other words what caused it). As part of your answer you should discuss a criminological theory or theories, as well as structural and economic factors. You should provide the background of the theory you picked. For example, if you are looking at social learning theory you should provide a short overview of the theory (How does the theory propose an explanation of crime?) Then you will apply the theory to the specific form of white-collar crime. Doing so will demonstrate your understanding of the problem.
5. Conclusion – Finally based on your analysis you will make recommendations about how similar crimes/ incidents could be dealt with in the future. To answer this you may need to research responses to WCC. Chapter 13 and 14 in the text will be helpful here.
