Key Words: Social Theory; Sociology of Sport; Social Justice; Power; Knowledge; Visual Methods in Sport; Digital Ethnography   Assignment Brief  Drawing upon one theoretical position from the lecture series, in addition to pertinent literature, prepare a presentation/poster on a topic of your choice relating to contemporary issues in sport, exercise or education. The presentation/poster should utilise 1 – 2 powerful images relating to your topic allowing you to critically discuss and defend the impact of your chosen topic on an individual basis, but also in the context of broader society. Threshold Expectation (To Pass)  To pass this assessment you must demonstrate appropriate knowledge and understanding of how the topic has been developed, drawing on peer reviewed literature. You will be able to demonstrate awareness of the main issues and will be able to structure an argument with the use of contested evidence to support findings. Based on which, you will make relevant conclusions that demonstrate an awareness of relevant theory.  Both the volume and quality of supporting evidence is suitable for this assessment and academic conventions are largely consistent, with minor weaknesses. The presentation will provide some evidence of preparation and rehearsal, and an attempt to be engaging in the presentation of your work, with some reference to powerful imagery.  To Achieve Excellence  Your work will demonstrate comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the topic and main concepts/theories, with an awareness of the limitations of knowledge and the influence this may have on interpretation.  You will consistently demonstrate critical engagement with the literature, extended analysis and synthesis, with logically developed arguments. Based on which, you will make a strong, persuasive defence of your chosen poster image.
