You will need to hit the important story beats in your synopsis and will be marked down if you miss some that are important to the overall storyline, characters and tone of the piece. We will discuss Writing Coverage in class. I’d like to see well-rounded comments, addressing issues that may need work as well as pointing out the positive. If you think the “studio” should consider optioning this project – great. If not, please back up your comments regardless. THIS IS STUDIO COVERAGE – please write it in the template handout in the topic, and in the format of studio coverage. Production Companies may have their own templates but I would like you to learn the Studio way as you can always adapt it for the needs of specific companies you may end up working. This is what Story Analysts use at the studios, however. Though Synopses and Comments vary in length (from my experience, Studio Coverage usually includes longer, more detailed synopses, especially in analyzing books), I’d like you to write 1.5-2 pages for your synopsis, and up to 1-page max single-spaced for Comments (your Comments can be a long paragraph or several; however, please keep your Comments to ONE page total). Please go through the attached documents for examples, guidelines and the template you’ll need to use.
