Talk about Nursing as a discourse community. Registered nurses, also known as RNs, are vital to patient care and they play a major role in helping patients manage with diseases and illnesses. Focus how RN’s communicate with each other. and the specific platforms they use and customs they follow when meeting as a group.
**Be to make-up two random people (does not have to be real people. Make it seem like you interviewed two Registered Nurses). Talk about how they are a discourse community and their communication practices.
**Use one online source/website for research in paper.
Use questions below for formatting help. You can use “I” in paper.
-Identify overarching values or the dominant style of the chosen community. What is your impression of the group? How do the words and customs of the group support that impression?
-Cite specific examples of discourse from the community. This might involve quotations from interviews, observations, text messages, or online communications.
-Note genres of discourse that the community participates in. For example, do they have established meeting times and places? Are there online forums, newsletters, or other publications? How is information distributed across the community?
-Be specific. What precise words or terms should community members know in order to be considered a part of the community?Is there a way that community members dress or behave
that sets them apart?
-Consider specialized vocabulary. What do the types of words the community uses say about the
communitys values?
A discourse community can be broadly defined as a community that shares common values and purposes, as well as specific ways of communicating about these goals. Research and write about the communication practices of one group or community that you are familiar with. Through observations and interviews, you will analyze data and formulate claims based on this evidence.
