Over the course of this semester, we have reviewed several developmental theorists. Examples such as Piaget, Erikson, Freud, Jung, Adler, Horney, Stack Sullivan, Chickering, Bowen, Bronfenbrenner, and a cast of others. In a short 3-4 page essay, describe the following: 1. Who is the theorist, and what is he/she best known for? Describe their theory and the important elements. Demonstrate, as best as you can, your understanding of the theory. 2. What are some critiques of this theory? Meaning, where is this theory lacking? 3. What are elements of the theory that you generally agree with? Meaning, when you learned about their model, what stood out as something you resonated with? 4. Finally, please describe either a friend, yourself, or a family member, and apply one of the theorist main elements to that person. For instance, if you selected Erik Erikson, you could discuss a friend of yours that is currently single and approaching the edges of the “intimacy vs isolation” stage. Please change names if you select a friend or family member.
