Write a paper on the Raven – Edgar Allan Poe.

Write a paper on the Raven – Edgar Allan Poe.Response Essay – ENGL1302 Your first essay will be a five-paragraph response paper to one of the short stories on our reading list. (The paper is due before we read all the stories, but you may read ahead and respond to one of those if you wish.) In this paper, you will explore/explain your reaction to one of these texts by focusing on one or more of the work’s literary elements (eg – character, setting, etc.) to discover how they contribute to its overall effectiveness, meaning, and impact. Begin with a brief summary/explanation of what goes on in the story you choose. This will constitute your introductory paragraph. Subsequent paragraphs will express your feelings and response to the text. Wrap up your thoughts in a concluding paragraph. You must include examples and details from the work to support your reactions to it. Each body paragraph must include at least one piece of support from the text (your chosen story). You will document quotes/paraphrases from the text with page numbers only if they are available in the document I posted in Files. If the text is not paginated, omit the citation. For this essay only, I am not requiring a works cited entry (you will identify author and title of source in your intro paragraph). No outside sources are required or allowed. Your essay should reflect what you think about the text. Evidence of any ideas from Internet sources will affect your grade negatively. Avoid SparkNotes and other cheat sites. You may write in the first person, if you wish, for this essay only, but third person will work (and be good practice for subsequent essays). You may also emulate the title of the sample response paper, with its generic format, for this paper only. Read the sample response paper in Files; view the response paper guidance in Pages. Essay must be typed in MLA format (this means heading, header, double spacing, etc.) saved to your chosen electronic venue, and posted to Canvas before the deadline. Late papers may be posted for two days past original deadline, with the appropriate grade penalty (one letter grade per day).
