Once again, imagine that a hypothetical client has come to you for assessment of a specific target behavior. This time select a behavior that should be targeted for decrease (e.g., some type of problem behavior — aggression, inappropriate vocalizations). Write an operational definition for the target behavior and design a measurement system. Next, hypothesize how the behavior could have been established through social-positive reinforcement. Then, take an alternative view; hypothesize how the behavior could have been established through social-negative reinforcement.
