Thesis: British colonizers like John Smith used religion to justify their actions against the Native Americans by labeling it as divinely commanded evangelism, but many of the Indians, like Red Jacket, responded by refusing the Christian religion. Using religion to further the cause of colonization and gain land was a misinterpretation of the Bible and equivalent to taking Gods name in vain.
