This letter is my personal statement for my entrance to a Bachelors of Science in Nursing program at The the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. I obtained a Bachelor’s in Science and Art’s in Health Science from Texas Women’s University simultaneously while attending nursing school at Galveston College. I have attached my resume. There is a break in my job history due to leaving work to care for my grandmother, who died from complications of Alzheimer’s and Dementia. All the degrees I’ve achieved are because of my Grandmother, and I’m still trying to make her proud of me.I grew up in the 80s during the crack and cocaine epidemic, and my sisters and I should’ve been a statistic. We made it out of what’s considered the wrong part of town, went to college, achieved things, and now living the American dream. Now I want to help my community by way of the healthcare field. The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston will help me serve the community I grew up in and help improve my community’s health care. I want that degree from University of Texas!
